Work with procedures and controlled documents
Connect readable instructions to workflow behavior and the revision used for the work.
Give each instruction a governed source
Procedure content can appear where the work is performed and in a readable document. Structured steps, limits, roles, and evidence requirements should remain connected to the source that defines them.
A generated document may present the structured procedure, but a complete SOP can also contain purpose, scope, responsibilities, safety context, and judgment that is not expressed as an executable rule. Review the complete procedure rather than treating generation as approval.
Read the instruction in context
- Open the procedure or instruction reference from the workflow.
- Check its identifier, revision, effective state, and applicability.
- Distinguish instructions from the observations and evidence collected during execution.
- If something conflicts, raise the discrepancy before proceeding with a consequential step.
Revise without rewriting history
Propose changes against the current revision. Review what changes in the readable procedure, the workflow behavior, and the required evidence. Determine whether training or additional verification is needed before activation.
Keep the earlier revision available for interpreting completed or in-flight work. A new procedure should not silently rewrite the basis of an existing execution.
