Resources & readiness

Assign the work.
Know it can be done.

Bring qualifications, equipment suitability, site capability, and availability into the work request. Check readiness before work starts and again when the action requires it.

01

Ask for a capability, not just a name.

A work request specifies what must be done, by when, and with what evidence. Match people, equipment, sites, or approved service providers to those requirements.

  • Requests & assigned queues
  • Capability requirements
  • Qualified substitution
02

Separate qualification from permission.

Training or experience establishes a capability; authorization establishes what someone may decide. Check each independently, including independent-review rules and the scope of a qualification.

  • Qualifications & expiry
  • Action authority
  • Role and reviewer separation
03

Check the resource in context.

A machine can be available but overdue for calibration. A site can have equipment but lack the required environmental controls. Make missing or expired evidence a visible readiness issue.

  • Calibration & maintenance context
  • Equipment range & site constraints
  • Reasoned readiness checks
04

Route work with the handoff intact.

Pass purpose, priority, required inputs, acceptance criteria, and due date to the receiving team. Track acceptance and completion against the same request, including evidence from external services.

  • Cross-team requests
  • Capacity & assignment context
  • Results linked to the request

Available does not always mean ready.

The connection that matters

An available resource is not necessarily eligible.

Check that the assigned person and equipment satisfy the requirements for this task and revision. Reassess if a qualification expires or a resource changes before execution.
